Gingham Ladies

Catalog page 3

When I was designing my Barbie doll patterns, it was not possible to work with some of the beautiful laces, fabrics and trims that are available now. So I just finished making this costume up using a pink satin for the dress, sheer nylon tricot for the ruffle (using my serger to finish the edge of the ruffle with pink thread) and a white lace ruffle around the skirt. The lace has sequins and beads sewn on by hand. The bodice was finished with a lace applique (lots of beads, sequins and pearls were added). Then small pink and white ribbon flowers trim the bodice skirt and hairpiece. I cut up pieces of a wide lace to make the headpiece, trim around waist and extra appliques on the skirt.

This costume has lots of sparkle!
